The Node Layer can be best described as a sort of network of easter-egg-esque articles hidden beneath this site. It is accessed solely via the Terminal. More specifically - the access.sh program.
Specific keywords correspond to individual nodes. Those keywords are pretty easy to spot, given their flashy styling. There are, however, nodes whose keywords are not highlighted, and there are some whose keywords might not even exist on the site at all.. in the conventional sense, at least. Either way, you're gonna have to work hard to access the Deep Nodes. I'm not playing around with these, so all punches allowed. Tear this site's code apart if you need to.
The reason for the Node Layer's creation is simple - I love stuff like this. ARGs, easter eggs, whatever you wanna call them. Up to this point my "easter egg magnum opus" was my Garry's Mod map - gm_cinema_v2. I put so much hidden stuff there, that it was pretty much a map in a map. I'm doing basically the same thing with this site right now.
I said so much already, and yet I haven't explained what nodes actually are. In short: ...I'm not sure. At their core, they are snippets of text hidden behind the enigmatic barrier of the access.sh program. Their contents may vary: from works of fiction, to life experiences, and other various forms of text. What drives my decision to put something inside the Node Layer and not outside of it, where it can be seen by everyone? I don't know. As far as both you and I can tell, it's pretty damn arbitrary.
That is all.
